The Glasgow-based Anchor Line started steamship passenger services in 1856, and soon offered a fortnightly service from Britain to North America, followed by services to Italy, the Middle East and India. They catered for all classes of passenger, from first class to steerage. The beautiful advertising posters displayed here date from the early 20th century.
