Tapestries
This collection of 200 tapestries is one of the most important in the world, and was gifted to the city by Sir William Burrell in 1944. It includes a number of rare medieval and early 16th-century Burgundian and Flemish tapestries, and a large number of tapestries from 15th- and 16th-century secular collections. Particularly rich in German and Swiss tapestries, the collection includes an important group of English-attributed 16th-century tapestries.
