Description
Tapestry depicting Sibylla Libya and Sibylla Europa, one of set of six Sibyls (46.134 to 45.139) from the series 'Fountains with Sibyls and Prophets'. In this fragment, Sibylla Libya, who predicted the incarnation of Christ and bears a lighted candle or taper to symbolize her spark of clarity and hope, faces a second representation of the Sibylla Europa. Part of the Burrell Collection.
