Description
Wool and silk tapestry depicting the Triumphs of Petrarch: The Triumph of Death. It shows the three Fates standing over the lifeless figure of a girl identified as Castitas (Chastity). The Fates are equipped with the spinning tools traditionally linked with the control of the thread of life: Clotho holds a distaff, from which Lachesis draws taunt a single thread, attached to a spindle which dangles from Atropos’s hand.
