Description
In this scene from the Old Testament Book of Danie, two lustful elders who attempted to slander the virtuous Susanna after she spurned their advances, are being stoned to death in punishment. The elders slump away from the stake to which they are tied, while other men throw stones. The woman watching from a distance may be Susanna; the beardless male seen from behind towards the left may be Daniel, who uncovered the deception. Part of the Burrell Collection.
