Description
Wool mille fleurs tapestry. In the centre is a wooden fence, through the open gates of which is a garden with flowers, leaves and a dead tree. A shield composed of five coats of arms is suspended from the tree trunk. In front of the fence stands a wild man on guard, with a shield and club. The tapestry is framed by a foliaged border, running between two knotted ropes, and bearing the device 'vaille cue vaille' and 'Lors se verra' in black upon white scrolls and repeated four times. Between the scrolls in the centres of the four sides are coats of arms belonging to various families. Part of the Burrell Collection.
