Description
Mille fleurs tapestry fragment with a dark green ground sown with clusters of flowering plants such as poppies, daffodils, violets, thistles, marguerites, lilies, orchids. Among these are 7 birds of different species, among them a falcon hunting a heron, a dragon, a winged griffin, a unicorn, a stag and a pointer. The heads of another stag and a unicorn appear on the incomplete borders. On the top is a landscape set with flame-like bunches of grass and different plants; above are trees and castles and a fortified town. Part of the Burrell Collection.
